The manager regulates the activities of employees - the knowledge holders, and therefore the manager is the main subject of knowledge management. The purpose of this paper is to determine the characteristics of social interaction in knowledge management. Within the interpretive paradigm of sociology, knowledge management is seen as a meaningful and purposeful activity of both the manager and employees, dependant on the decision of the manager as a supervisor. In the utilitarian paradigm of sociology knowledge management is an exchange, the rules of which must be stated in the Administrative Regulations. The conclusions derived in the paper can be used as recommendations for knowledge management in organizations.
