Innovation Strategy of Science and Technology Development in Taiwan

Taiwan is making great efforts to increase scientific and technological (S&T) resources, accelerating research and development (R&D) and innovation, cultivating S&T personnel, and developing key S&T industries. The article describes the current S&T situation in Taiwan, through statistics and its standing in the world rankings, followed by the brief explanation of the mechanism of strategy forming in Taiwan. Based on the conclusions drawn in various governmental conferences and review meetings, the country’s strategies and visions to enhance its technological innovation and to improve the industrial environment are outlined. Other aspects for innovation are also pointed out in the end of the article, as well as the importance of international cooperation.
