SERGEY SHOBAљis Doctor of Biology, professor, Dean of the Soil Science Department at the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, President of the Dokuchayev Soil Scientists Society, member of the MSU Academic Board, member of the Supreme Environmental Council of the State Duma of the RF Federal Assembly.

S.A. Shoba is an expert in the area of morphology, mineralogy, geography and sustainable management of soils; he is an author of 230 studies, including 33 monographs.

He developed the concept of morphogenesis of soils of the taiga-forest zone, substantiated the concept of structural levels of organization of the soil mass at the sub-micro level and nano-level, summarized data on soil resources of the Russian Federation and prepared the unique Russian National Soil Atlas. He developed the concept and created the soil geography database of Russia.

S.A. Shoba gives courses at the MSU Soil Science Department covering the following topics: soil morphogenesis, land management with fundamentals of land regulation. He is the Director of the MSU Institute of Environmental Soil Science (second employment), Chief Editor of the Soil Science Journal of the RAS and of the Moscow University Bulletin (soil science series).

ECFS was createdљin 2011 by the Moscow State University Rector?s Order based on the Academic Council of Moscow State University decision and in accordance with the Government of the Russian Federation Decree ? 2226 ?r of December 8, 2010 as a measure taken in line with the L'Aquila Food Security Initiative (L'Aquila Food Security Initiative).

The main objective of ECFS is to create conditions for the development and implementation of coherent agricultural policies that ensure soil fertility and food security in the Eurasian region.
