Dynamic atomic nuclei deformation animation

Inelastic scattering of deuterons with energy еd = 15.3 MeV on 12я

Two movies presented the dynamic deformation of 12я, formed in state with Я Jπ = 2+ in the reaction 12я(d,d’)12я of inelastic scattering of deuterons with energy еd = 15.3 лЩб, were produced on the base of the results of theoretical calculations [1]. Those were carried out for two angles of scattered deuterons escape - θd = 81° Х 160°. It is clear that nucleus dynamic deformation significantly differs from its static deformation for which the nucleus has a shape of oblate ellipsoid of rotation. Dynamic deformation in the reaction surface (it is shown by meridian slices) strongly depends on the scattered deuteron angle θd: in the case of scattering to small angle θd = 81° nucleus has a shape of ellipse with side convexities, similar to epicycloide, in the case of scattering to large angle θd = 160° - irregular shape prolate elllipse.
