Experience with OO Database for CMS Events Distributed Between Two Sites.

SINP farm: 20 boxes + 1.5 TB server


CMS production began in spring 2000 year.
The main goals are: -- to generate large samples of events for Physics, Trigger and DAQ investigations. -- to install full data processing software chain from DAQ to Physics

-- to create protypes of computing and storage facilities.


Participation of Russian institute (5% of all CMS simulations):
Spring 2000 year - SINP MSU+ITEP- 50000 events, 25 GB transferred to CERN Autumn 2000 year - SINP MSU+ITEP+JINR - 110000 events, 180 GB transferred to CERN Autumn 2001 year - (SINP+RRC)+ITEP+JINR+FIAN - 270000 events, OO Database distributed between SINP and ITEP ~200 GB transferred to CERN Spring 2002 year -(SINP+RRC)+ITEP+JINR+IHEP - 430000 events, 180 GB transferred to FNAL (2-3 days), ~200 GB transferred to CERN (10 days), 90 GB transferred (10 days) from CERN to Moscow, Two OO Databases We need Mass Storage - will begin to use JINR DLT.

No problem even if some databases are damaged the common catalogue survives


Catalog is visible from CERN OO_FD_BOOT=lhc.sinp.msu.ru::/usr/local/oodata/cms/reconstruction/prod/ jetPROD0900/jet0900.boot During federation filling OO_DB_HOST and OO_DB_PATH are fixed.
