«Biological diversity and conservation problems of the fauna of the Caucasus»

Dear colleagues,


It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in the second international scientific conference titled Biological diversity and conservation problems of the fauna of the Caucasus organized by the Scientific Center of Zoology and Hydroecology NAS RA, A.N.Severtsov Institute of Ecology and Evolution RAS and Acopian Center for the Environment of the American University of Armenia.


The Conference will be held during September 23 – 26, 2014, Yerevan, Republic of Armenia.

The working languages of conference are English and Russian.


The conference will be devoted to the discussion of the following topics:

  • fauna: species diversity, evolution, taxonomy, morphology, zoogeography, forming, ecology ethology, etc.;
  • terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems;
  • influence of forecated climate changes on the biota;
  • parasitic fauna: biodiversity, ecology, host-parasite relationships, malignancy of animals' and plants' parasites;
  • invasive species;
  • envinonmentaly friendly methods (genetic, biological, chemical) of the control of animals' and crops' parasites;
  • assessment and sustainable use of biodiversity adn bioresourses of the Caucasus;
  • ecotourism;
  • ecological education.

Separate section for young scholars and PhD students is envisaged as well as meetings with experts and conference primary speakers.

Conference papers will be published in “Conference Proceedings”.

Both Oral and Poster presentations can be submitted. The oral presentations are 15 minutes each and should be submitted in MS Power Point. Presence of international participants for poster presentations is not compulsory.

To apply, please fill out the Registration form by May 31, 2014; publication materials should be submitted by July 31, 2014, to zool@sci.am. Registration form and article submission form and rules are attached and can be found on www.sczhe.sci.am.


Registration fee for Conferance participants is 60 ˆ. Authors, who paid the registration fee, will be provided with published proceedings.

Unfortunately Organizing Committee cannot provide financial support for the Conference participants.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS


Poster presentations should be submitted on A2 paper format and have to contain the title of the presentation, authors’ name and surname, address and the main content of the paper with illustrations.

Publication requirements: each publication should not exceed 4 pages; the papers have to be prepared using MS Word with extensions .doc or .rtf, but not .docx; the page size should be A4, with all the margins = 2 cm; font should be Times New Roman with font size 12; line spacing should be one line throughout the document.

TITLE OF THE ARTICLE SHOULD BE TYPED WITH CAPITAL LETTERS; the names of authors should be in ‘Bold’; the present address and email address – in Italic with font size 10. The basic text should be followed after one line spacing.

The names of taxa of species and genus levels should be in Italic, if mentioned for the first time the authors’ name should be included.

Cited literature: should be presented in the text in round brackets in alphabetic range and given as a reference in the end of the article. The title of cited article should be presented full, the sources’ name – in standard reductions. Volume, page should be given only in numbers.
