This paper is devoted to social transformations of the second half of 20-th century, which have led to increasing significance of the visual channel of communication for the culture of the information society. We analyze the transition to the era of visual self presentation, where the demonstration of the social status of the individual becomes the main goal of communication, instead of disclosing of the contents.
