Editorial

There is no doubt that results of the work of plant taxonomists from Russia and other countries of the former USSR are extremely important for international scientific community. However, not all of them are included into international scientific exchange, mainly because of language barriers.

The primary goal of KOMAROVIA - the first English language botanical periodical published in Russia is to bring to international audience the results of botanical researches carried out in Russia and other countries of the former USSR and, in the first turn, botanists of the Komarov Botanical Institute - leading Russian botanical institution.

We intend to publish KOMAROVIA at least once per year. However, if financial possibilities will allow to publish it more frequently, we shall try to do this. This first issue is pilot and experimental. Editors will gratefully accept all suggestions on the contents as well as format and layout.
