61. Supernova 1998ar in NGC 2916
... Dr. Rodrigues, M1 group, Spain, has pointed out the confusion in identification of SN 1998ar in NGC 2916. ... I have measured the locations of point-like sources around NGC 2916 with DSS-1 image and 5 GSC stars. ... The magnitude of this star is estimated as 15.5 mag or so on DSS1 image. ... Star C seems to be dimmer than Star B, and comparing GSC 14.8 mag star and fainter neighbouring stars, its magnitude is about 1.5 mag dimmer than GSC 14.8 mag star; which tells that SN was about 16.3 mag. ...

64. Kinematics of galaxies: supplement
We present a catalogue of galaxies for which spatially resolved data on their internal kinematics have been published; there is no apriori restriction regarding their morphological type. The catalogue lists the references to the articles where the data are published, as well as a coded description of these data: observed emission (E) or absorption (A) data, optical (O) or radio (R) data, velocity (V) or velocity dispersion (D), radial profile (1) or 2D field (2). ...

... Moon Phase below . ... ARTICLE: Why the moon always shows us the same face . ... Before you continue reading, you should know that this was not always the case, i.e. the Moon once was rotating with respect to the Earth, so that on every night a terrestrial observer (if there was one, because this was long, long before mankind appeared on our planet, and even before any major animals had appeared) saw another f
