Summary
1.Neutron irradiation of the vertex detector CCDs with a dose of a few times 10**9 n/cm**2 creates a noticable effect on the CCD charge transfer efficiency (35% loss of amplitude after dose of 5*10**9 n/cm**2) 2.This effect may be significantly reduced by the sacrificial charge technique. We estimate that the CCDs can operate efficiently up and just beyand 10**10 n/cm**2 (probably up to 10**11 n/cm**2) 3.The main contrubution to the trapping deffects in neutron irradiated CCDs from SLD vertex detector appears to be from vacancy-phosphorus comlexes. 4.The effect of cooling the CCDs during irradiation is not large. And it looks like it has favorable sign (decreased rate for cold CCDs). 5.All the above indicates, that a CCD vertex detector probably can operate in the environment of a TeV energy linear collider, such as the NLC.
