Web Archeology and Generation X

It has often been said by old foggies that Generation X doesn't have much of a focus.

Your assignment for today is to search through student pages on gladstone to see if you can find resources that you think are valuable to you, as a member of this generation. In addition, you are to act like some kind of archaeologist and imagine that the student pages on Gladstone are the only archival record of Generation X.

You are to prepare a report on the common themes that you find among the student web pages that you encounter. This report, of course, should be in the form of a web page which should contain links to what you think represents valuable information and good content. It should also describe the general theme(s) that are used in the Generation X pages.

At the end of your report you should make a critical judgement as to whether Internet Publishing by Generation X students represents a worthwhile contribution to society.

To effectively do this assignment

2. This search engine is specific to uoregon systems. So type in a search phrase following by +host:gladstone. For examples:

sex +host:gladstone will find all student pages with the word sex on them.

3. So enter in some key words or phrases that you think represent useful information to you and see if a Generation X page has been written on it by a UO student.

Remember you must write a report (web page) to summarize your findings.
