Abstract

The coherent intensification of the interaction of relict massive neutrinos with grains of matter of a size on the order of the neutrino wavelength suggests that it might be possible to detect a galactic neutrino sea by virtue of the mechanical pressure which it exerts in the direction opposite that in which the solar system is moving in the galaxy. This possibility is analyzed and compared with analogous effects previously studied. The measurements of the acceleration due to interaction with neutrinos of a small sphere composed of materials with various values of Z/A could make it possible to distinguish between the contributions of nu(e) and the other types of neutrinos and thereby obtain information about the nu(mu) and nu(tau) masses which cannot be obtained by other laboratory methods.
