The Science Analysis Software (SAS) is an extensive suite of
software tools developed to process the data collected by the
XMM-Newton Observatory.
SAS is released periodically. With each release, new software
developments and bug fixes are included with the aim to improve the
processing of XMM-Newton data.
Within these pages you may find all the information needed to
download, install and start using SAS. To proceed, click on the
specific navigation link as shown on top of this page.
Before you start surfing through them, you may want to have a look at a
very
concise SAS description.
News
- [17/11/2006] SAS 7.0.0 binaries built on Tiger
(for PowerPC processors only)
are now publicly available in the
download section.
- [03/11/2006] A reduced CCF calibration repository has
been put in place, which can be synchronized.
Information on how to use it at this page.
- [27/10/2006] omichain fails to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 update 4: The problem has been observed in the update 4 (latest) to RHEL 4 due to a change introduced in ghostscript by that update. For more details on this problem and the workaround to solve it, please look at this watchout.
- [07/08/2006] Slew Data Processing Software version 1.0
- [07/07/2006]
OM Grism Response software (grismresp) version 1.0
- [07/07/2006] SAS on Windows: For the first time we provide a release of SAS
usable on Microsoft Windows through the well tested technology of a
Virtual Machine. Full details are available
here.
- [30/06/2006] Notice to Mac OS X users: The release for this platform has been
built on Mac OS X 10.2.X (Jaguar) but has been tested to work fine on
Mac OS 10.4.X (Tiger), only on PowerPC architectures. The problems found
and reported for the SAS 6.5 version (reported in the Watchout pages)
under this OS, have been fixed. We expect to provide a Tiger built
version in the near future, possibly on Intel architectures as well.
