Bright Pixel Trends

A localised increase in the number of bright pixels in MOS-2 occurred at the beginning of rev. 108, 1 or 2 days before a solar flare.

A second increase has now been observed, once more located only within MOS-2 and now associated with a flare in rev. 169.

There have been no noteable increases in defect numbers.

Conclusions

The last pixel upload (v4-06-dec-2000) is still adequate 2 months after calculation. We have to consider the possibility that the MOS-2 shielding may not be of adequate minimum thickness in all lines of sight. Hence, MOS-2 BPT (CTI) degradation may be accelerated in comparison to MOS-1.
