High Redshift Cluster Projects

Welcome to the
High Redshift Cluster Survey Program
Web Site

This site provides on-line access to publications, figures, and data tables related to an extensive multi-wavelength observational program to study distant galaxy clusters.

The Palomar Distant Cluster Survey is a 5 square degree survey (composed of five 1 square degree fields at 00hr, 02hr, 09hr, 13hr, and 16hr R.A.). The image data for the PDCS consist of V and I band exposures acquired with the 4-shooter camera mounted on the Hale 5m telescope at Palomar Observatory.

Lori Lubin, Bev Oke, and Marc Postman have been studying a sample of 9 distant clusters (some taken from the PDCS) using the Keck 10m telescope, the HST, and the KPNO 4m (for IR imaging). The Keck Low Resolution Imaging Spectrograph (LRIS) is used to obtain spectra for about 130 galaxies in each cluster field as well as deep BVRI imaging over a 5 x 7 arcminute field of view. We also provide a new link to the Deeprange Survey, a 16 sq deg I-band survey to study distant clusters and the evolution of large scale structure. The Deeprange survey images and cluster catalog are now available on-line!
