HST Programs: May 11 - May 17, 2009

Space Shuttle Atlantis is scheduled to launch at ~2 pm EDT on Monday May 11th to carry out Servicing Mission 4 to the Hubble Space Telescope.
HST will cease Cycle 16 science observations several hours after launch, at 0 hours UT on Tuesday May 12th (8 pm EDT). There are five scheduled EVAs (see below), with EVA 1 scheduled for Thursday May 14th, starting at ~08:00 EDT. During that first EVA, the SI C&DH unit will be replaced, and WFC3 installed in place of WFPC2; EVA 2, scheduled for Friday 15th, will see the installation of replacement gyros and batteries; Saturday's EVA will include the installation of COS,replacing COSTAR, and (at least)the initial stages of the ACS repair process; and Sunday's EVA will include the STIS repair procedures.
Science observations will resume with Cycle 17 programs following SM4 and the Science Mission Orbital Verification process.
