Hi, I'm Harish! I am an RIA at STScI and work with the Hubble Frontier Fields (HFF) team and the Hubble Wide-Field Camera 3 (WFC3) team.
As an RIA my current tasks and responsibilities include data quality checks of Hubble Frontier Fields (HFF) incoming WFC3 data as well as instrument and data calibration for WFC3. With HFF, I am assisting in characterizing the infrared (IR) time-variable background, and characterizing and removing persistence in the IR.
With WFC3 I am the Principal Investigator for the UVIS unflashed monitor program and am also investigating the UVIS read noise. My research backgrounds are in near-infrared observation and instrumentation, supernovae, brown dwarfs, and high-energy spectroscopy of compact objects. I completed my Bachelors in Astrophysics at UC Berkeley and my Masters in astronomy from San Diego State University.
Check out my C.V. and publications below for more information.
The Space Telescope Science Institute operates the science program for the Hubble Space Telescope and will conduct the science and missions operations for the James Webb Space Telescope and supports other astronomy programs and conduct world-class scientific research. The Space Telescope Science Institute is operated by the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) for NASA.
I am an avid amateur photographer. I love to take pictures of landscapes, street scenes, and portraits. I've had a basic Canon DSLR since 2009 and have taken more than 60,000 shots across the globe. I hope to improve over time, with better equipment, more training and practice. For now it's just something I do to unwind. All the shots you see here were taken by me, and some more example shots can be seen at 500px.
