Stellar Dynamical Models
Spherical Anisotropic Jeans Modeling Software
Author: Roeland van der Marel (1992-1994)
Purpose: predict the velocity dispersion profile of a
spherical galaxy model with an arbitrary velocity
anisotropy profile.
Information: I developed programs to solve this
problem in the context of my study of M87, described
in detail in the following paper:

Scale-free Modeling Software
Authors: Roeland van der Marel (1994-1995) and
Jos de Bruijne (1994-1995)
Purpose: predict intrinsic and projected kinematical
quantities of axisymmetric mass densities
with anisotropic velocity distributions in
spherical potentials. Useful for studying asymptotic
behavior near a black hole or in an isothermal halo.

Purpose: Estimate an unknown constant bias level
(the `pedestal') in HST/NICMOS images, and make
the transitions at the quadrant boundaries continuous.

IMPORTANT NOTE (August 31, 2000): This software
is now available as the IRAF task PEDSUB in the STSDAS
package (stsdas.hst_calib.nicmos). You are advised to
use that task instead of the (UNIX/FORTRAN) version
included here.
