[*] Intermediate-Mass Black Holes in the Universe: Constraints from Dynamics and Lensing

Intermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) with masses between those of ``stellar-mass'' and ``supermassive'' black holes (BHs) might have formed in the Universe in several different ways. I review the constraints that dynamical considerations and gravitational lensing observations place on both the existence of IBMHs and their possible contribution to the cosmological mass density. IMBH formation theories (Miller) and constraints from X-ray observations (Mushotzky) are reviewed elsewhere in this volume. IMBHs are of potential importance for several fields of astrophysics, and are potential sources for gravitational wave detection. As such, they are likely to grow as a focus of research attention.
