SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 04/07/97

		SMOV STATUS & PLANNING MEETING - 7 APR. 97

NOTE: The next meeting is April 9, 8:30 AM.

STATUS REPORTS

1. Observatory Status

PCS reports three guide star problems over the weekend:
		095/0640 - (7150 - NICMOS focus monitor) - default to
			   single guide star
		096/0421 - (7117 - NICMOS ERO) - default to single guide
 			   star
		096/2224 - (6361 - WFPC2 snapshot) - drop to gyro control

The NICMOS observations on single guidestars are not
 		expected to be adversely affected.

2. WFPC2 Status - Proceeding nominally with Cycle 6 science and
	remaining SMOV monitors.

3. NICMOS Status

	- Engineering Status - At 095/0734, a Filter Wheel 2 "retry"
was performed successfully. A real-time command to clear the
error flag was later sent. There were no retries during this
weekend's focus monitoring activities. Focus monitoring analysis
	is proceeding.

At 095/1439, the NICMOS Dewar heaters suffered a another thermal
set point corruption associated with and SAA passage, thereby
allowing the heaters to come on. At 1609, the set point was
commanded back to the appropriate value.

The Detector temperature is 60.977 degK.
The VCS temperature is 97.807 degK.

  	- Science Status - 7150 Focus monitor data are being analyzed.
EROs 7116 (Arp220) and 7117 (M16) have been observed and data are
received. Analysis is only just starting, so there was nothing
	specific to report.

4. STIS Status

	- Engineering Status - Nominal.

	- Science Status - Nominal. ERO analysis is proceeding. The 7067
CCD target acquisition test (3rd iteration) was performed last
	evening and was apparently successful.

5. FGS status -

The FGS-1R guide star acquisition test (7030) is proceeding
nominally. At the time of the meeting, three of the four
acquisitions have succeeded. K-factors and PDB update are being
	worked for the SMS111.

6. FOC/COSTAR status- The FOC SMOV program has been reported to the SMOV
TTRB as complete. The SMOV TTRB has enabled the resumption of FOC
	science.

PLANNING REPORTS

1. Status of Upcoming SMSs

	- SMS097 - Currenly executing.

	- SMS104 - Final Mode products are expected to be available later
today. Gaps for FSW configuration opportunities related
to MAMA SAA-avoidance management are on days 105 and 110.

		 - The CCD annealing proposal (7107) goes in this SMS.

		 - A PDB update involving the downlink transmission delay
parameter is in the hands of the PDB office, which
apparently is awaiting freeze board approval of the
		   change.

	- SMS111 - Currently being built. The current plan is to include
the MAMA turn-on (7105 revised) in this SMS.

	- SMS118 - Construction to start later today. May include some of
the later stages of the MAMA turn on sequence (7105).

2. Replans

	STIS

	- MAMA HV Turn-on (7105) is currently planned for SMS111. Downstream
 		MAMA scheduling is being assessed.

	NICMOS

	- No significant replans have yet been identified.

OPERATIONS STATUS

1. OPUS - Some obsets of the NICMOS ERO 7117 are pending in the pipeline,
because the data was dumped to the recorder in 2 separate pieces,
which causes OPUS processing problems. Manual workarounds are being
	pursued.

2. Archive - Nominal.
