SMOV meeting, April 4, 1997 Carl is out today, so I am standing in (so the format is a little different). S/C subsystems - Everything is nominal, operations after the safemode recovery have been as expected. STIS engineering - Nominal STIS science - An ERO was taken last night, data is on its way but had not been seen by the scientists at the time of the meeting. NICMOS engineering - Grant Blue gave a brief report on the Filter Wheel tests. It looks like there is no evidence for any mechanical binding or interference. The recent retries are due to calibration errors or drift in the Inductosyns. The current retries are not causing problems, but there are several possiblities for system changes to avoid them. The STOCC is set up for the weekend with OPS requests to clear the error flag and dump the logs, if more occur. During this investigation it was discovered that the FSW does not leave any settle time before changing direction on a wheel. This may add torque stress to the "soda straw", and should be changed. The NICMOS Operations team will discuss this situation early next week. Grant reported that John Troeltzsch would like to raise the set point on the dewar thermal controller. There was one successful retry on FW2 last night during the ERO. NICMOS science - The ERO data are down to the ground, but so far the science team has seen only the darks, not the sky images. The next focus test starts this evening. SMS processing - 97 - finals out last night 104 - initials out yesterday, SPST working some problems found by commanding in the SMS review. 111 - Calendar is in work, the SARs will probably go out today. There was a question about whether the new NICMOS internal flat (7153) got in, Merle will check. There will be some PDB updates delivered for final processing. The MAMA turn-ons are scheduled for this week, but have not been included yet. The SPST and Commanding staff prepping the proposal got diverted by the filter wheel tests and the safing. Since these are internals, they can be added in later stages, after SARs are requested. 118 - work starts next week. OPUS - Nominal HDA - Nominal
