SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 03/12/97

NOTE: THE NEXT MEETING IS FRIDAY, MARCH 14, 8:30 AM.

STATUS REPORTS

1. Observatory Status

	MOSES PCS reports:
	- 7026 - The FGS-1R FF3 Optimization Activity is proceeding
	  nominally. (Hand-out materials available). Preliminary
analysis of full-aperture scans look within expectations
and predictions for 2/3 aperture are very good. (Details
in the hand-out). Plans are to complete analysis, determine
optimal AMA move (Preliminary estimates are - 4 steps in X
and 4 or 8 steps in Y.), and perform the moves and
	  "5-points-of-light" in upcoming SMSs (076 - 083)

2. WFPC2 Status - Proceeding nominally with Cycle 6 science and
	remaining SMOV monitors.

3. NICMOS Status

	- Engineering status - The Cold Well temperature is still
~59 degK and the rate of increase is still ~0.15 deg/day.
The VCS temperature is now 110 degK and the
rate of cooling is now -3.6 deg/day (down from -5.5 reported
	yesterday).

	- Science Status - The Coarse Alignment activity (7041) is
proceeding nominally. The Camer 1 focus sweep looks good.
The Camera 3 focus position should be established this week.
The instrument will be returned to BOOT mode following
	today's alignment activities.

4. STIS Status

	- Engineering Status - Mike Hinds reports that no CCD
resets have yet to be observed.

	- Science Status - Flat field analyses are on-going, currently
with a 0.5% standard deviation. The thermal stability of
slit/detector plane is better than expected, although large
temperature extremes have not yet been experienced. The hot-
pixel table is being worked, as is the modification to pro-
posal 7107 to accomplish annealing of hot pixels. The UV
sensitivities (7063 UV Monitor) look good; the orbit/ground
	ratios are 1.05 - 1.1 for the "red" bands, and 1 - 0.8 in
	the G230LB.

5. FGS status - See no new activity. The FF3 Optimization Activity
(7026) in this SMS have begun, with the 3 visits scheduled
today and tomorrow. (See the Observatory/PCS status report above.)

6. FOC/COSTAR status- no new activity

PLANNING REPORTS

1. Status of Upcoming SMSs

   	- SMS069 - Currently executing.

  	- SMS072 - Signed off.

	- SMS076 - Final Mode products are out for review.

	- SMS079 - Built and under internal review.

	- SMS083 - Initial Mode products are out for review. This
SMS implements the SSR for engineering data
	           record.

	- SMS090 - Initial calendar build has begun. A splinter
was held after yesterday's meeting to validate
plans for STIS trg acq testing in this SMS. The
meeting resulted in some minor changes to the
scheduling of each visit of Proposal 7067 and
a plan to provide table updates in time for
		   each visit.

2. Replans

	- Because inefficiencies involved in SAA avoidance, the
NICMOS Limb Avoidance Test (7053) had to be moved out
of the SMS083 into a later one in order to preserve
	  the NICMOS ERO scheduling.

	- MAMA HV Turn-on (7105) is delayed (from 21 March)
	  indefinitely. Affects on downstream MAMA
	  scheduling will be assessed.

OPERATIONS STATUS

1. OPUS - Nominal.
2. Archive - Nominal.
