SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes 03/14/97

SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 03/14/97

NOTE: THE NEXT MEETING IS MONDAY, MARCH 17, 8:30 AM.

STATUS REPORTS

1. Observatory Status - All subsystems nominal

2. WFPC2 Status - Proceeding nominally with Cycle 6 science and
	remaining SMOV monitors.

3. NICMOS Status

	- Engineering status - The Cold Well temperature is still
~60 degK and the rate of increase is ~0.05 deg/day.
The VCS temperature is now 105 degK and the
rate of cooling is now -2.5 deg/day. These trends are in
the right direction and the temperatures may stabilize
sometime next week. During the Coarse Alignment
activity (7041), the PAM and filter wheels worked fine.
Because of the higher than expected dewar temperature,
the upper limit on one monitor was raised from 59.1 to
60.5. The TPG reset failure is a known problem for which
HSTARs need no longer be written.

	- Science Status -The Coarse Alignment activity (7041) is
completed nominally and the analysis is continuing. The
difference in PAM focus positions between Cameras 1 & 2
is about 2 mm. the Camera 3 focus is estimated to be between
-11.2 and -11.4 mm in mechanical PAM range. This is
outside of the full range of PAM motion, but Camera 3 has
a depth of focus of about 1.2 mm. Because of the delay
in VCS temperature stabilization, some coalibration
activities in SMS 090 may need to be delayed. This will
be discussed at a later splinter.

4. STIS Status

	- Engineering Status - Nothing new to report.

	- Science Status - The PDB update and target acq tables are
being updated per schedule for the SMS083.
The fine alignment proposal 7076 will be modified to use
CCD only. Some of the other MAMA proposals will need new
targets because of the delay in execution. This is being
worked by the STIS team. The effect of a CCD reset while in
	PROTECT mode is being studied.

5. FGS status - No new activity. The FF3 Optimization Activity
(7026) in this SMS completed nominally. A request to
replace an existing visit with a pupil mode test in
 	SMS083 has been implemented.

6. FOC/COSTAR status- no new activity

PLANNING REPORTS

1. Status of Upcoming SMSs

   	- SMS069 - Currently executing.

  	- SMS072 - Signed off.

	- SMS076 - Final Mode products are out for review.

	- SMS079 - Final Mode products are out for review.

	- SMS083 - Initial Mode products are out for review.
This SMS implements the SSR for engineering
data record. This SMS also has been modified
to include a Target of Opportunity identified
		   yesterday.

	- SMS090 - Initial calendar build has begun. A "10.2"
commanding update is also needed for this
		   SMS

	- SMS097 - Will start being built on Monday.

	- SMS104 - Will require a "10.2 commanding update for
NICMOS SAA avoidance and for STIS CCD
		   annealing process. The annealing proposal
(7107) can go in this SMS.

2. Replans

	- MAMA HV Turn-on (7105) is delayed (from 21 March)
	  indefinitely. Affects on downstream MAMA
	  scheduling will be assessed.

OPERATIONS STATUS

1. OPUS - Nominal. OPUS is preparing for upcoming quick data
turn-arounds for STIS UV monitor (7063) and
		NICMOS intermediate alignment (7135). THE
STIS ERO 7124 has also been modified to use
a "re-use target offset" which OPUS will execute.

2. Archive - Nominal.
