SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 03/06/97

STATUS REPORTS

1. Observatory Status

	MOSES status reports:

	- PCS - Nominal
	- DMS - A real-time SSR dump command was reported to have
collided with an SPC for the SSR. In such a
case, the SPC has priority, and in this case, there
		was no adverse impact.

	- All other observatory subsystems are nominal.

2. WFPC2 Status
	- Engineering status is nominal.

	- Science status - nominal. The EROs were successfully
observed and the first Cycle 6 science observations
          were performed.

3. NICMOS Status

	- Engineering status - The instrument was recovered from
SUSPEND (see yesterday's notes) to BOOT mode, where it
will remain until next Tuesday for the Coarse
Alignment/Focus Activity (7041). No problems reported.

	- Science status

A clarification to yesterday's notes regarding the
 	  Pre-Alignment Check-Out (7134): The activity successfully
verified correct postarg polarities as well as the
expectation of 3.6 arcseconds of spacecraft motion per
millimeter of PAM defocus. (The residuals were extremely small.)

All information crucial to proceeding with the alignment
	  activities has been obtained.

4. STIS Status

	- Engineering Status - Nominal and unchanged - The MAMA LVPSs
remain off indefinitely, pending further investigation by
	  BASD.

    	- Science Status - The IDT/STScI STIS Team proposes a minimum
2-week delay in the execution of MAMA High Voltage Turn On
(7105) currently planned for ~ Mar. 21. This will allow
more time to characterize opto-isolator problems and devise
operational strategies for both high- and low-voltage
management. The proposal met with no objections.

Data from STIS activities continue to be analyzed. No
 	  problems reported.

5. FGS status - no new activity

6. FOC/COSTAR status- no new activity

PLANNING REPORTS

1. Status of Upcoming SMSs

   	- SMS065 - Currently executing.

   	- SMS069 - Review of Final Mode products uncovered an error
		   that is being checked out.

  	- SMS072 - Has been rebuilt without the NICMOS 7036 mentioned
 		   above.
		 - Initial Mode products are out for review.

	- SMS076 - Has been reworked to include:
		 - FGS ITS fix, which had failed
		 	on the SMS062.
		 - NICMOS 7135 modifications to avoid SAA orbits.
		 - PAM motion spacings to reduce motor heating.
		 - Initial Mode products are out for review.

	- SMS079 - Being reworked to include:
		 -- NICMOS 7054 SAA avoidance
		 -- Removal of MAMA HV Turn-on (7105)

2. Replans - MAMA HV Turn-on (7105) is delayed (from 21 March)for a
minimum of 2 weeks. Assessment of downstream MAMA
	      scheduling will be assessed.

OPERATIONS STATUS

1. OPUS
	 - Some STIS observations for 7065 were sent to DADS with
association keywords, but without an association table.
         Problem is being investigated.

	 - Otherwise nominal.

2. Archive - Nominal.
