SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes 02/25/97

SMOV Status & Planning Meeting Minutes

Meeting Date: 02/25/97

STATUS REPORTS

1. Observatory Status

	MOSES status reports:

	-PCS - nominal

	-OTA - nominal

-EPS - Detected a PDU2 current limit violation at 054/1835,
after a steady rise starting at 054/1646.
		Reason unknown. Under investigation.
	     - An SA slew profile showed a 1 - 2 degree overshoot
followed by return to correct position. The behavior
is within spec. but will be studied along with the
		ongoing SADE timing analysis.
 	     - otherwise nominal

	-DMS - nominal
	     - SSR testing, including SAA behavior,
		is planned for tomorrow.
	     - ESTR2 temperature has leveled off.

	-Thermal - nominal.

2. WFPC2 Status - nominal - Next UV monitor is this afternoon and
will be used as a decision point for cooling to -88 degC.

3. NICMOS Status
	- Engineering status is nominal. Transfer Function Test
(7037) is complete. Internal Parallel Ops Test (7136) is
	on-going.
	- Science status is nominal. Analysis of filter wheel mecha-
nism test is continuing and looking nominal. Vignetting in
camera 3 is still seems to be present.

4. STIS Status - CCD temperature is nominal -83 degC. MAMA low
voltages are off per yesterday's report. The on-going
analysis has two aspects: 1) determine the actual cause of
yesterday's anomalous behavior, and 2) determine if there
is any risk in turning MAMA low voltages back on. The plan
is to proceed with the near-term SMOV timeline (i.e, CCD
mini-functional, etc.) independent of the decision for
	MAMA low-voltage turn-on.

5. FGS status - no report

6. FOC/COSTAR status - nominal. The first science data (internals)
look good. Counts from internal flats look a little low,
probably because they are being compared to 1991 data.

PLANNING REPORTS

1. Status of Upcoming SMSs

The goal is to run all of the SMSs through SMS069 by
Sunday for input to commanding review in order to
get a jump on TDRS requests in forecast period.

	- SMS055 - Currently executing.

   	- SMS058 - Reviews and sign-offs are underway.

	- SMS058H - (contingency SMS058 in case WFPC2
 			contamination is seen in SMS055)
		 - Reviews and sign-offs are underway.

  	- SMS062 - built and initials out for review.
		 - TDRSS negotiations ongoing

   	- SMS065 - built and initials out for review
 		 - TDRSS negotiations ongoing

   	- SMS069 - built and initials out for review

  	- SMS072 - built and initials out for review

	- SMS076 - being worked

	- SMS079 - being worked

2. Replans - none

OPERATIONS STATUS -

1. OPUS

	- The problem in deleivering NICMOS science data to the
Archive has been solved and, as of last evening,
the backlog in OPUS was eliminated.

	- Problem in correct specification of time-correlation coef-
ficients is being looked into. Possible quick fix.

	- R/T STIS memory dump POD files were received by OPUS but
no products have been successfully produced. Also,
MOSES reports that the memory dump data received
from PACOR was garbled. PACOR will look into it.

	- Some erroneously associated NICMOS exposures have been
causing a CALNIC-B failure. May originate as a TRANS
problem. Al Holm will look into it.

2. Archive Status

	- Separate pipeline for receiving backlogged NICMOS
data was set up and all data was processed
		successfully.

	- Ray Kutina will investigate whether there exits an Archive
process for notifation of SMOV PIs of archive receipt
		of their data.
