Here is the summary of projects that are currently underway or are planned for the near future:

  1. TransVERSE - An upgrade of the Trans software which permits arbitrary queries into its model, and supports search to optimize or satisfy criteria.
  2. Distributed Object Controller (DOC) - A system which handles messages passing between distributed processes to be used as a controller for both RPS2 and the HST operational flow.
  3. RPS2 Toolkit - The specialization of the DOC which allows it to control RPS2 process flow.
  4. OPS Toolkit - The specialization of the DOC which allows it to control the HST operational flow.
  5. MOSS in the OPS Toolkit - Inclusion of MOSS, which computes timing and positions of solar system targets, into the OPS toolkit.
  6. RPS2/NGSS - Make the output of the New Guide Star System (NGSS) available for use by RPS2 in determining visit schedulability.
  7. NGST Scientist's Expert Assistant (SEA) - A prototype set of tools which guides and observer through the process of specifying scientific observations. It includes:
  8. Export Spike - This is a version of the Spike planning and scheduling software which has been made available to other observatories. FUSE, ESO/VLT, AXAF, SIRTF and Subaru are all paying us to customize Export Spike to create long range plans or short term

  9. schedules for their observations.
  10. An orbit planning GUI prototype is scheduled to be written, allowing observers to graphically adjust orbital visibility usage by exposures. The idea is to determine whether such a thing would be a useful part of the Tool of the Future.
  11. Working with members of other observatories to identify common specifications for objects used by most or all observatories. E.g. targets, exposures, observations, proposals, etc.
