Subject: [Fwd: SUs lost to weekend safing]

Here's the impact of the safing over the weekend. In total, 8 Main external SUs
were hit plus 4 SNAPs and parallel activities as summarized below.

Visit PC orbits Plan window status

Visits with no future suitability:
869924 SHERWIN 1 Currently no future windows (comet observations)
825803 ROMAN 1 Currently no future windows (Kuiper Belt observations)
825804 ROMAN 1 {Linked to 825803}

Visits with future suitability:
885402 SHERWIN 4 PW on day 00.271-00.272. CVZ, STIS/CCD

Visits with plan windows open on currently executing and building calendars:
833806 ROYLE 1 PW out to day 242. More suitability ~00.300, SAA hider
beginning on day 318
842203 SHERWIN 3 PW to day 227. Suitability out to 00.346. CAL, MAMA
825001 ROMAN 2 PW out to day 250. WFPC2, SAA-hider to day 246
872901 TAYLOR 1 PW out to day 274. FGS, SAA-hider 264-274

The last four candidates should first be considered for filling gaps on the
00.220 calendar rebuild for the ToO. Any of these visits remaining after the
00.220 is rebuilt should be added to the 00.241 candidate list and treated
accordingly based on their remaining plan window duration. Note that 0842203
should be treated as a Supersnap (/noplan) on the 00.241 calendar since its plan
window expires before that week. The PWs for 833806 and 842203 will be
reassigned if they are not scheduled on one of these calendars.

Hi Chris,

There were a total of 14 external prime and calibration orbits affected by the
safing over the weekend. In addition, 5 SNAPS, 15 crafted or pure parallel
visits, and 8 internal calibration visits were dropped from the schedule. We
were not able to reschedule any of these activities on this week's calendar
which is being rebuilt for the DD comet observations. The resulting prime
science and external calibration impact is provided below. Please let me know if
you need more information.

Bill

Proposal: 8699
PI: Lamy (coI: Weaver)
Title: The Origin of Short-Period Comets
Impact: 1 orbit lost and unrecoverable. The orbit was one in a sequence of 5
orbits on Comet Shajn-Schaldach whose observing window has closed.
The PI will presumeably request that this orbit be transferred to
another short-period comet.

Proposal: 8258
PI: Brown
Title: A Search for Kuiper Belt Object Satellites
Impact: 2 orbits lost and could not be replanned within the existing planning
window. The program requires a certain angular velocity of the KBO
in its orbit that restricts the observing window to once every 6
months. The visits will be reworked and replanned for their next
opportunity.

Proposal: 8854
PI: Gilliland
Title: CAL/STIS - CCD Sparse-Field CTE External C9
Impact: 4 orbits delayed to next CVZ window in late September 2000. The
impact analysis for this visit is incomplete. We are currently
looking for conflicts with GO visits whose CVZ targets also must
be observed in this window.

Proposal: 8338
PI: Lehnert
Title: The Evolution of the Host Galaxies of Powerful Radio Sources
Impact: 1 orbit will be replanned for mid-November 2000.

Proposal: 8422
PI: Ferguson
Title: CAL/STIS - Imaging Sensitivity & PSF Library C8
Impact: 3 orbits whose target enters solar avoidance in mid-December 2000
and becomes visible again in mid March 2001. We should be able
to replan it to execute before mid-December of this year.

Proposal: 8250
PI: Rich
Title: Proper motions of bulge stars
Impact: 2 orbits with time remaining in their current plan window. No
adjustment is anticipated.

Proposal: 8729
PI: Henry
Title: Speedy Gonzales Mass Determinations: Fast Orbiting Red Dwarf Systems
Impact: 1 orbit with time remaining in their current plan window. No
adjustment is anticipated.
