Adding a Visitor Network Printer to your System
Configuration information:
- Name: stvizprinter1
- IP: 192.83.252.252
- HP Laserjet 8100/8150 series
- Location: Room 216 (same floor as the Auditorium)
- Name: stvizprinter2
- IP: 192.83.252.253
- HP LaserJet 5si
- Location: Bloomberg 6th floor hallway (same floor as STScI offices)
Specfic instructions for Windows XP are given below. If you
need help with another operating system, contact support@stsci.edu
or visit the CPT Help Desk in room 330.
Note that the instructions below are for stvizprinter1.
If you want stvizprinter2, substitute the name, IP address and printer
type from the list above.
- From the Start menu in the lower left, select "Settings"->"Printers"
- Select "Add Printer"
- Click "Next", select "local printer" and uncheck automatically detect plug and play if
it is checked
- Click "Next", select "create a new port", and use the pull-down to choose "standard tcp/ip port"
- Click "Next", and enter
- IP: 192.83.252.252
- port name: stvizprinter1
- Click "next" and "finish"
- In the next dialog box, specify standard hp direct ex multiport
- In the next dialog box, specify HP laserjet (8100 or 8150) series ps
- Select "keep existing driver"
- Default printer is "no" (unless you want this to be the default printer)
- Do not share
- Test page "yes" will print a test page to verify correct installation
- Click "finish"
