Coronagraphic imaging with STIS reduces PSF wings by an order of magnitude several arcsec from the source.

The NUV-MAMA detector PSF has broader wings than the FUV-MAMA PSF because the NUV photocathode coating is on the dewar window instead of directly on the microchannel plate surface.
