At the left edge of the page, links in the Navigation Bar are sorted by STIS characteristics, observing, data analysis, and then reference material. Navigation bar links typically bring up pages rich with annotated links into the Instrument or Data Handbooks, which contain most of the actual site content.
At the right edge of the page, links in the Shortcuts take you directly to often used tools or reference documents.
Shortcut links may be used to access Web versions of complete STIS Handbooks. Use Index or Table of Contents in each document to locate information. The Document Archive (see Navigation Bar) contains PDF versions of the STIS Instrument and Data Handbooks.
Above the Navigation Bar, the Search window can be used to search for keywords in the STIS site (local) or the entire STScI site. Type return after your search phrase or push the "Go" button. As always, try to include unique words in your search phrase.
On the bottom edge of the STIS banner across the top of the site, the "FAQ" link brings up this list of Frequently Asked Questions, which provides another set of links to frequently used pages in the site.
Above the STIS banner across the top of the site, links take you to other STScI pages. General HST information is never duplicated and often not even linked from the STIS site. For example, generic HST Phase 1 proposal forms should be obtained from the HST site.
