STIS CCD Flat Fields and "Dust Motes"

"Dust Motes" in CCD flats get flagged in the data
quality file as small blemishes. This flag can be
misleading. Read more.

How do I know that wavecal processing worked correctly?

Wavelengths in 1-D extracted spectra and 2-D rectified
images will not be correct unless the offset of the
Mode Select Mechanism (MSM) in the dispersion direction
was successfully determined from the wavecal associated
with the observation. Here are two things which can be
checked to see whether there was a problem.

STIS Calibration Outsourcing Opportunities for Cycle 10

There is a potential list of project candidates for
Cycle 10 calibration outsourcing proposals that could be
submitted in response to the Cycle 10 call for proposals.

CALSTIS 2.6a

Calstis version 2.6a was installed in the pipeline on
May 9, 2000 and is also being used by OTFC. Calstis 2.6a
will be available for download in a soon to be released
version of STSDAS. There were two bugs corrected in this
version.

CALSTIS 2.6

Calstis version 2.6 was installed on Feb 14, 2000.
Changes to CALSTIS in this version include a number of
bug fixes, enhancements, and a number of new user tools
and scripts.

Release of the Visual Target Tuner

With the June Call for Proposals, STScI will release a
prototype software tool called the Visual Target Tuner
(VTT). This tool displays HST apertures superimposed on
sky images. The VTT provides capabilities to import sky
images, display primary and parallel apertures, rotate
apertures, centroid objects, specify excluded points and
regions, experiment with various orientations, and
display catalog overlays and object information.
