# Orbit estimates are TOTAL for all of cycle-17; assume 72 weeks)

Total Prime Orbits: 16
External Parallel Orbits: 0
Internals or no-impact orbits: 0
Comments on orbit estimate: Total number of orbits may be adjusted, based
on the results of the first visits.

# This section should be written with a GO audience in mind -- use
# Calibration plans in WFPC-2 handbook as a guide.

Purpose: To measure changes to the properties of the data when
the spectra are moved over a range of cross-dispersion
and dispersion positions.
Description:
This program will obtain COS FUV spectra of external targets at a range of cross-dispersion
and dispersion positions in order to evaluate the optical performance of the
spectrograph at different lifetime positions. Changes to throughput, resolution,
gain, spectrum rotation, etc. as a function of position will be measured and compared to
raytrace models. The data obtained in this program will be used, along with that
from programs 12676 and 12677, to determine which positions are suitable for future
science operations.

Accuracy: N/A
Comments on Accuracy:
Products: Reports will be created describing the results and
how they compare to the raytrace models. Ultimately,
an ISR/TIR may be created describing why we chose
a particular lifetime position.

Observation summary:
Collect data after moving the spectrum to a non-nominal position on
the detector. Offsets will be made in both the cross-dispersion and
dispersion directions.

Flux (and units)........................:
Visibility window (if known or relevant):
Comment on choice of target: Target observed in numerous other
programs, so the spectrum and flux
are well-known.

# Exposure list plan at the Phase I level. Be as complete as reasonable.
# If possible information should be complete enough to allow easy
# submission of a Phase 2 from this form. However, if you have to leave
# some of the fields blank below, or want to provide the information
# in another format, that is acceptable. (Make sure you do the BOP checking
# though, as this is a phase-1 issue.)

# Analysis Plan

Expected FTE weeks for analysis: 0
Required turnaround on analysis (weeks): 2
Data volume (Mb needed for analysis): 0
Special software needed for analysis? (Describe): Custom IDL software

Description of analysis Plans:
Spectral resolution and other spectral properties at different offset
positions will be measured and compared with the properties at the
nominal on-axis position. Results will be compared to the raytrace
models in order to understand how the spectrum varies as a funcion of
cross-dispersion and dispersion offsets. This information will be an
important factor in determining the number and positions of future
FUV lifetime positions.
