The following passage from section 2.5.4 of the NICMOS Instrument Handbook is very misleading:
"Internal NICMOS parallel observations obtained together with primary science observations will be known as attached parallels and will be delivered to the prime program's observer and will have the usual proprietary period."
The correct Phase II term is "coordinated parallel", not attached parallel. There is a concept of "attached parallel" in the SPSS subsystem, but this in fact is equivalent to the Phase II concept of "pure parallel".
Thus the misleading passage should be changed to read as follows:
"Parallel NICMOS observations obtained together with primary NICMOS science observations are called coordinated parallels and will be delivered to the prime program's observer and will have the usual proprietary period."
