STScI VMS Computing Environment

This section briefly describes the OpenVMS computing environment at STScI.

VMS Systems Configuration

There are several VMS clusters (groups of VMS systems that share resources) at the Institute: SOGS, STOSC, GSSSA, STRVW, DADS, and STSCIC. The SOGS cluster is restricted to operations personnel and authorized development staff and the GSSS cluster is restricted to guide stars personnel. The STOSC cluster is used for Science Operations Ground System development and testing. The STSCIC cluster, commonly known as the "Science Cluster," is used for general science and development. Most users will be using either STSCIC or STOSC.
