1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed Two Sets of FGS 6147 (Extragalactic Astronomy and
Astrophysics Final: Cycle 4 Observations)

The FGSs were used to make observations of targets NEWEGOB-24,
720-REF, 721-REF, 722-REF, NEWHIP-24, NEWEGOB-33, 1320-REF, 1321-REF,
1322-REF, and NEWHIP-33. The objective of this long-term program is to
determine the rotation of the HIPPARCOS reference relative to the
extragalactic frame. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no
anomalies were noted.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5663 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4: Photometric Calibration
Monitor: Fields Part 2)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of globular cluster
NGC-5139 with various filters in order to check the photometric
calibration of the WF/PC-2. The observations were completed as planned,
and no anomalies were reported.

1.3 Completed GHRS/1 5317 (Searching for circumstellar Gas Around Low
Mass Per-Main Sequence Stars)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) was used to make
spectroscopic observations of the low mass, pre-main sequence star
HD142361. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies
were noted.

1.4 Completed GHRS/2 5650 (UV Spectroscopic Determination of the D/H
Ratio Along the Line of Sight)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to observe the
stars of Epsilon Indus ( i.e., HD209100) and to study the spectra for
lines of Deuterium and Hydrogen. The observations were completed as
planned, and no anomalies were reported.

1.5 Completed WF/PC-2 5751 (Understanding the Geminga (1E0630+178)
Optical Counterpart Cycle 4 - H)

The WF/PC-2 was used to obtain images of STAR-0633, the optical
counterpart of neutron star Geminga. The images will be used to determine
the parallax of the target to get an estimate of its distance. The
observation was completed as planned, with no reported problems.

1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5366 (The Chronology of the Galactic Halo and Disk)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galactic globular
cluster NGC-6333. The images were reported to look nominal.

1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy
3C353.0 as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's
morphology. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies
were noted.

1.8 Completed GHRS/2 5693 (The Evolution of Boron: Implications for
Galactic Evolution)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make
observations of the late type star BD+26D3578 to monitor its metallicity,
and to learn about the chemical and dynamical evolution of the galaxy. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.9 Completed FOC/96 5140 (Observations of the Narrow Line Regions in
Nearby Seyfert Galaxies)

The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make observations at
several wavelengths of Seyfert galaxy MRK78 and Cygnus A, to study the
narrow line region, the morphology relations between radio and optical
emission and continuum and line emissions, et. al. The observations were
executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.10 Completed WF/PC-2 5370 (HST Medium-Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium,
High Galactic Latitude)

The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science
observations to make high galactic latitude observations as part of a
medium-deep sky survey. The observations were completed as planned, and no
problems were reported.

1.11 Completed WF/PC-2 5344 (Search for Optical Counterparts of
Globular Cluster X-Ray Sources)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of globular cluster
NGC-6656 to look for optical counterparts to known X-Ray sources contained
within this cluster. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no
anomalies were noted.

1.12 Completed WF/PC-2 1070 (High Resolution Imaging of Radio Galaxies
at Large Redshift)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make deep images of radio galaxy 3C389 to
study the evolution of its stellar population and to look for star
formation. The observations were completed as planned, and no anomalies
were reported.

1.13 Completed WF/PC-2 5629 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 4 Photometric Calibration
Monitor 1C: 4-Chip STD in F170W)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make photometric calibration observations
of the ultraviolet standard star GRW+70D582. The observations were
executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.14 Completed WF/PC-2 5746 (High Spatial Resolution Imaging and
Polarization of AGNs)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make high resolution polarized images of
the AGN within IRAS19580 to provide information about the central source
which is hidden behind obscuring matter. The observations were completed
as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.15 Completed WF/PC-2 5091 (GTO High Latitude Parallel Program: Cycle 4)

The WF/PC-2 was used in parallel with the prime science
observations to make high galactic latitude observations greater than
+/-30 degrees. The observations were executed as scheduled, and no
problems were reported.

1.16 Completed GHRS/1 5542 (GHRS Side One Wavelength (1st Order
Gratings): Cycle 4)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side One) used the spectral
calibration lamp (Side Two) to calibrate the Side One characteristics.
Notice that the Side Two lamp was used to calibrate Side One. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

2.4 Operations Notes:

Data inversions were experienced as usual throughout the weekend
during STGT operations. Other problems occurred at STGT resulting in the
loss of non-critical real-time data. Routine trouble reports were filed.

There were two HSTARs written for momentary SI limit violations
that had no apparent effect on on-going operations.
