HUBBLE SPACE TELESCOPE
DAILY REPORT #1305

PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z
Daily Status Report as of 013/0000Z

1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 5393 (The Nature of Host Galaxies of High-Redshift,
Radio-Loud Quasars)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy 4C57.29 which
contains a high red-shifted, radio-loud quasar to study its morphology. This
data will be compared with low-Z QSOs and other radio galaxies. There was one
guide star recentering event reported to have lasted for a total of four
seconds. No other anomalies were noted.

1.2 Completed WF/PC-2 5446 (The Nuclei of Nearby SO and Spiral Galaxies: A
PC Snapshot Imaging Survey)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the core region of galaxy
NGC-3782 to provide statistics on the nuclear cusps, stellar condensations,
and inner stellar disks and dust lanes. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5378 (Morphological Evolution of Galaxies in
Clusters at Z = 0.5)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of galaxy GAL-CLUS-0 to
study its morphology. The exposure time was 1200 seconds. The observations
were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 5476 (Continuum Snapshots of 3CR Radio Galaxies)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot images of radio galaxy 3C29.03
as part of a continuum survey and to study the galaxy's morphology. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.5 Completed FOS/RD 5431 (FOS Observations of Liner Galaxy Nuclei:
Ultraviolet Clues)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to obtain
ultraviolet spectra of the inner region of galaxy NGC-4594 looking for
emission lines, stellar absorption lines, and continua. The observations were
executed as planned, and no anomalies were noted.

1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 5655 (Cycle 4 Calibration: Internal Monitor 2 -
Flats Part 2)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make both dark and visual flats. The
observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 5369 (Medium Deep Survey: Cycle 4 Medium High
Galactic Latitude)

The WF/PC-2 made a series of observations of high latitude objects as
part of a medium deep sky survey. The observations were taken in parallel
with other prime science observations. The observations were completed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.8 Completed Two Sets of WF/PC-2 5571 (Cycle 4 Calibration: Earthflats -
Smaller Set)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make several ultraviolet and narrow-band
filters Earth flat calibration observations to correct for the telescope's
illumination pattern. The observations were completed as planned, and no
problems were reported.

1.9 Completed WF/PC-2 5568 (Cycle 4 Calibration: Decontamination)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make an internal flat field calibration
observation using the VIS lamp and the internal source as part of a
decontamination operation. The observations were completed as planned, and no
problems were reported.

1.10 Completed GHRS/2 5721 (Probing the Starburst Phenomenon: UV
Spectroscope of CO in Seyfert Galaxies)

The High Resolution Spectrograph (Side Two) was used to make
ultraviolet observations of the starbursting nuclear regions of the Seyfert
galaxy NGC-1068.0 to look for CO band in its spectrum. The observations were
executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted
