DAILY REPORT #1440

PERIOD COVERED: 0000Z (UTC) 07/25/95 - 0000Z (UTC) 07/26/95

Daily Status Report as of 207/0000Z

1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed WF/PC-2 6188 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Dark)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal dark calibration images. The
observations were completed as scheduled, and no problems were reported.

1.2 Completed GHRS/2 5837 (Ultraviolet Imaging and Spectroscopy of the Icy
Galilean Satellites)

The GHRS/2 was used to make ultraviolet observations of Jupiter's moon
Ganymeade to study the albedo features caused by SO2 absorption. These
observations will be coordinated with the IUE Spacecraft and other ground
based observations. The observations were completed as planned, and no
anomalies were reported.

1.3 Completed WF/PC-2 5978 (Host Galaxy of Distant Radio Quasars)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make observations of the host galaxy of
distant radio-loud quasar 3C275.1. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.4 Completed WF/PC-2 6189 (WF/PC-2 Cycle 5 Calibration: Internal Monitor
- Vis Flats)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make internal visual flat calibration images.
Both photometric and narrow-band filters were used. The observations were
executed as planned, and no problems were reported.

1.5 Completed FOS/RD 5668 (Binaries in Globular Cluster NGC-6441 Spectra
(FOS 37) Carryover Observation)

The Faint Object Spectrograph (Red Side) was used to make
spectrographic observations of the Globular Cluster NGC-6441 looking for a
possible X-Ray binary star counterpart. Such binary systems are thought to
dominate the kinetic energy budget of globular clusters, yet very few such
objects have been observed. A visual flat calibration image was also taken.
The observations were completed as planned and no problems were reported.

1.6 Completed WF/PC-2 6254 (GTO Pure Parallel Program - Cycle 5)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make some long exposure observations taken in
parallel with the prime science observations. These were a random sample of
high galactic latitude fields. The observations were executed as scheduled,
and no anomalies were reported.

1.7 Completed WF/PC-2 6119 (Snapshot Survey for Companions of Planetary
Nebula Nuclei)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make snapshot survey observations of planetary
nebula NGC-5315 to study its nuclei and to look for possible companions. The
observations were executed as scheduled, and no anomalies were noted.

1.8 Completed WF/PC-2 6285 (Structure of Quasars and Related Objects
(WC10) Cycle 5)

The WF/PC-2 was used to make multi-color observations of radio
galaxy/quasar 3C120 to detect its bright nuclei and extra-nuclear structure.
The observations were completed as planned, and no problems were reported.
