1.0 ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED AND ACCOMPLISHED:

1.1 Completed FOC/96 4804 (UV Imaging of Nearby Galaxies with FOC/96)

The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make one ultraviolet
image of nearby galaxy ESO-1348-3. The exposure was for ten minutes,
and used filter F220W. The image was received and displayed. No
anomalies were noted.

1.2 Completed GHRS/2 4065 (Dark Noise Monitoring GHRS)

The High Resolution Spectrograph was used to make a series of 16
Dark calibration images which will be used to monitor dark noise.
All 16 observations were received and displayed in the OSS. They
were reported to look okay.

1.3 Completed FOC/96 4843 (Bulge Stellar Population in S0 Galaxies - Cycle
3 High)

The Faint Object Camera was used to make two ultraviolet images of
the central bulge of S0 class galaxy NGC-5102 to study its stellar
population. No problems were seen with the telemetry. A recentering
event occurred during the second observation. Both images were
reported to look well centered in the aperture.

1.4 Completed FOC/96 3801 (Search for QSOs suitable for Subsequent
Observations of He II)

The Faint Object Camera was used to make one ultraviolet
observations of quasar 1400+114 to measure the level of its
ultraviolet flux. This is to determine if it is suitable for
subsequent observations using the FOS and GHRS. The observations was
made during LOS, and received via a science tape recorder playback.
The observations was received and displayed. No problems were seen
with the data.

1.5 Completed PC 4140 (WF/PC Cycle 2 Calibration: Rapid Internal Monitor
- Part 2)

The Planetary Camera was used to make two internal flat calibration
images to be used to look for new forms of contamination, and the
return of quantum efficiency hysteresis. Both observations were
received and displayed. via a science tape recorder dump. There were
no problems.

1.6 Uplinked Updated Ephemeris Tables, Per MOSES 2871

1.7 Completed FOC/96 3532 (Disk and Halo Clusters in the Edge-On Spiral
Galaxy NGC-5170)

The Faint Object Camera (f/96) was used to make four observations of
the edge-on spiral galaxy NGC-5170 looking for clusters and dwarf
companions at large separation from the target galaxy. A recentering
event was reported during the second observation. No problems were
seen with the data. The observations were reported to be well placed
in the aperture.

1.8 Completed WFC 5010 (Determination of the Extragalactic
Distance Scale III M101.)

The Wide Field Camera was used to make one observation of the galaxy
NGC-5457 (aka, M-101) to search for Cepheid variable stars. The
observations was received and displayed via science tape recorder
playback. It was reported to look okay.

1.9 Completed GHRS/2 4601 (Jupiter's Hydrogen Lyman Alpha Auroral/Airglow
Line Profile: Cycle 3 Medium)

The High Resolution spectrograph was used to make several spectral
observations at different latitudes along Jupiter's central meridian
to study its Auroral torus. The observations were executed as
scheduled, and no problems were reported.
