New 3.1 release on July 1st A pre-release (beta) version can be downloaded as a try out.
The new version will be available on July 1.
Of course this upcoming release will be a free update.
New 3.1 pre-release can be downloaded as beta NOW The upcoming 3.1. release is available as beta pre-release version to try out (Full edition only).
Download file AstroStack31beta.jar from the products page and copy it to the astrostack directory on your PC (and to the Java extension directory if you use plugins, make sure to delete AstroStack3.jar).
The current version 3.05 is still available at the website in case you want to go back to it.
We welcome all comments from users on this new version.
AstroStack 3.1 features New:
- Navigator bar
A new navigator bar lets you switch more easily between plugins. You can also enable and disable plugins without leaving the one you are working in.
- Progress bar
A progressbar has been added, next to the statusline.
A number of plugins now show progress during the processing of images.
Here is a glimpse of these new GUI features, showing the new look of Java 1.5:
- Save Astrostack size and position
The size and position of AstroStack's windows (the monitors and console) can be saved.
When Astrostack starts it will use the last saved settings.
Improvements:
- Align plugin
* When using Track&Hold it is not necessary anymore to select a second image. Track & Hold will use the first image of a list of files to align all others against.
* Image quality can be calculated. **)
* Uses the new progress bar
* Loads bmp and fits images
- Stack plugin
* When align quality calculation is enabled, you can select which images pass the stacking (and combining) phase.**)
- Load bmp and fits in other plugins
* Plugins that need to load additional images can now load bmp and fits as well. These are: Align, Dbf (dark, bias, flat frame) and Math plugins.
- JPEG
* plugins now also load files with .jpeg extension.
- PDF Manual
* Updated and now available as pdf
**) Quality calculation of images is provisionary in the beta release and is subject to improvements.
