Shumaker's-Levy's comet.

In July 1992 the comet went in 15 thousand km near Jupiter. As a result its core was broken into 17 pieces. In that state the comet was discovered in the observatory Mount-Paloumar by Caroline and Eudgene Shoemakers (the best professional comet catchers) and by David Levy. The comet was turning not around the Sun, but around Jupiter with a two-year period. During the next approaching to Jupiter in 1994 all the fragments cut into the planet’s atmosphere with the 65km/sec speed and generated the powerful disturbance of the cloudy surface. The falling was predicted by the astronomers and was observed from the Earth and from the Space.
