GIMP animations: merge-anim examples

merge-anim examples

The following pages contain some examples of what you can do with my merge-anim script... I tried to minimize the size of the images on these pages (all animations are smaller than 50 Kb), but you will probably have to be patient anyway. If you have a slow connection, I suggest that you start with the 4th and 3rd examples, which contain the smallest images.

Like all other scripts, merge-anim does nothing more than automating some tasks that you could also do by hand. It merges a background (or top) layer with all other layers in an animation. This saves you the boring task of having to duplicate and merge layers repeatedly, but you still have to create the base animation yourself...

The animation at the top of this page was created by using this script on an image created with Xtns / Script-Fu / Logos / Cool Metal and Script-Fu / Animators / Waves. It should not be hard for you to find out how I did it, after looking at the examples above.

Note: The merge-anim script is not finished yet. I am planning to change it so that you can merge an animation with a layer from another image instead of having to create the background into a layer of the same image. I will probably add some options for applying a layer mask to an animation or applying an animated mask to a static layer. But maybe that will be a separate script... I am not sure yet.

If you haven't installed the script yet, you can get it from here. You can also have a look at my gimp page which does not contain anything interesting, but it is there anyway...
