Making the LIC'ed pictures look more 3Dish

To achieve a more 3D-like effect on the results of the LIC process, you can apply the following steps:

  1. Duplicate the result of the LIC, call this B.
  2. Apply the "Grayify" plug-in to B.
  3. Apply the "Relief" plug-in to B.
  4. Apply the "Brightness-Contrast-Gamma" (BCG) plug-in to B and adjust the contrast-parameter to your liking. The more contrast, the more pronounced 3D-effect. You may want to adjust the brightness a little too.
  5. Multiply B with the original result of the LIC process, call this C.
  6. Use the BCG plug-in again to adjust the brightness and contrast of C.
  7. Voila! A LIC'ed, carved out/in image :)
