Short Report on my activity @ Crimean Observatory
I forgot my files when moved from SAI to Crimean Observatory.
If you are still interest you may visit my home page at
Sternberg Astronomical Institute.
What I'm doing here !
December 10, 1995 me and Eugene Rodichev arrived to our observatory at
Crimea to do:
- Relaxing after terrible life at Moscow
- Constructing local network at Crimean Observatory of
Sternberg Astronomical Institute
( First login from noiser.sai.crimea.ua was made by
O.S.Bartunov 15.12.1995, 20:25)
- Consulting our colleagues from Crimean Astronomical Observatory
(CRAO,Ukraine) (network)
- Connection of lan's of Crimean Observatory (SAI) and CRAO via PPP
(Done, 19200 - 11.12.1995, 23:00, 38400 - 17.12.1995, 21:00 )
The line has been tested at 115200 We hope CRAO people
will upgrade this line to ethernet in first quarter of 1996
(ask Sergey Rastopchin).
- Establishing of Internet link (currently 19,200 via CrRelcom)
(Done, 9600 - 26.12.1995, 20:00 after heroic joint efforts of our team
and Crelcom people (
Artur Zimens
and Andrew Katkov). We hope 14400
will be achieved in closest future after cleaning of phone lines and
applying strange neper's).
- preparation of joint (SAI-MSU, NPI-MSU, CRAO) network project in
framework of NATO program concerning satellite link Crimea-DESY
(Gamburg, Germany).
- and something I forgot...
Olga Rodicheva has prepared
database of people we contacted during our
work on establishing Internet link at Crimea (fall 1996). She arrived to
Nauchny at Dec 24, 1995.
I shall leave Crimea at 29.12.1995 by train number 134.
Evgeny Rodichev and Olga Rodicheva
will continue work on DNS and MAIL. Good Luck and Happy New Year.
Note:Everything was OK, we have support from local administration
of our observatory (E. Kolotilov, A. Pavlov, V. Komisarov), people from
CRAO (I. Savanov, A. Sherbakov, S. Rastopchin). Special thanks to
V. Lyuty for continuous support and S. Shornikov - our driver, who was
very useful in our voyages.
