A listing of galaxies and their types that appear in the declination bins +50-+90 are listed as follows: [magnitude generally estimated around 12.5m or brighter](Note: NGC galaxies have no indication and are produced with just their numbers). The first offering are galaxies found in the Shapley-Ames Catalog of Galaxies).(NOTE: WITHIN THE FIELDS OF THE TARGET GALAXIES {AN AREA OF ~15 ARCMIN}, [EXCEPTIONS ARE: NGC 3718, 5457, 2403, AND 3031, WHERE A LARGER FIELD IS USED]. OTHER GALAXIES OF LESSER MAGNITUDES ARE ALSO INCLUDED IN THE COORDINATE STATISTCS. THESE ENTITIES ARE BACKGROUND GALAXIES, AND MORE THAN LIKELY WOULD NOT BE OBSERVED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF A DEEPER CCD/PHOTOGRAPHIC SURVEY, THUSLY THEY WILL DISPLAY GREATER DISTANCE MODULI, AND SUPERNOVAE MAXIMUM MAGNITUDES WOULD BE CONSIDERABLY FAINTER).

There are several conclusions that may be determined from the above data, plus a few surprises. It appears that the Sc type galaxy (which might encompass Scd types) besides being the most numerous, is also the most prolific SNe producer. In fact half of the SNe in this region have occured in this type (NGC 6946 accounting for 6 events). [Note: that while the S type galaxy was the second most prolific yielder of SNe, the amount listed above is confusing...this is due by and large to the earlier designation of the Zwicky list of galaxies. A designation of S for spirals of all kinds or a designation of EL for elliptical...no differentiation is given for the S types! thusly (in this case) the SN number exceeds the number of galaxies of that type]. The Sb galaxy is another good one to monitor, as well as the SBb which both produced an almost similiar ratio of SNe per galaxy number.
