SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION IN ASTRONOMY:
ACTUAL STATE AND PROSPECTIVE

in the frame
OF EAAS 6TH GENERAL MEETING
Moscow, MSU
May 25 - June 2, 2002



           The conference "International Collaboration in Astronomy: Actual state and Prospective" forms a part of the program of EAAS 6th General Meeting. This Announcement contains general information about the scientific program of the conference. The program of the Meeting [business] sessions and of the attached scientific events will be announced later.

           The conference scientific program includes discussion of a [current] situation with international collaboration in astronomy and of its prospects. The conference will focus on collaboration between NIS scientists as well as on NIS-Eastern Europe collaboration. Besides, collaboration of NIS astronomers with their colleagues in countries involved in INTAS projects, in USA and on global scale will be discussed.

           Presentations of scientific results achieved in the frame of collaborative projects, by international teams or individual authors, based on data obtained by collective efforts are planned. Special reviews of the largest international projects will be given. Particular attention will be given to space missions with purely astronomical as well as [combined] astronomical and geophysical applications.

           The conference program will include, apart from review talks, a number of short oral presentations and posters to be reviewed and discussed during poster session. Special poster session will be dedicated to each of the main fields of astronomy and astrophysics.

           In addition a special session on astronomical education is scheduled.

           "Lessons" from and prospects of international collaboration will be widely discussed and summarized.

           You may register after the deadline as well, but in this case the abstract of your contribution will not be published, also the list of oral presentations will be finalized by March 15.
