Star Formation Wave and Star Populations
Study of Star Formation wave penetration and content of stellar populations across BCG body

Using the spectra was taken with 4m telescope of the Kitt-Peak observatory (USA), on the basis of a new method of stellar population determination, which combines advantages of both evolutionary and population syntheses, a study of the stellar population and evolutionary characteristics - metallicity, age and mass function was carried out for the Blue Compact Galaxy (BCG) SBS~1331+493 with low heavy element abundance, undergoing the burst of star formation.

The B-image of Blue Compact Galaxy SBS~1331+493. North is up, East is left. The spectrum has been obtained with the slit oriented W--S along the major axis. Arrows show the regions.

2D spectrum of SBS 1331+493 in the range 3700-5200 A. The region N2 corresponds to the lower part of spectrum where all emissions lines are well seen. The region N3 is one, where only the strongest emissions are seen. The region N4 corresponds to trabsition region between the emission and absorption spectra, and region N5 - the upper, absorption part.
