The FingerChip™ is a thermal imaging fingerprint sensor based on a silicon chip. Direct contact with the protected chip produces an 8 bit, 500 dpi image; no light or optics are required as the finger’s own heat produces all that is necessary to image a fingerprint. At 1.5 mm x 14mm (0.06 x 0.56 in), the FingerChip™’s imaging surface is smaller than that of any other fingerprint imaging system. A unique user interface (‘sweeping’) allows the FingerChip™ to produce much larger images than are possible with competing products, resulting in richer data and more accurate matching. The FingerChip™ is resistant to ESD and harsh environmental conditions.

The FingerChip is a biometric sensor to be used in a biometric system. Unlike optical readers, the FingerChip is a silicon sensor that is smaller than the finger: a user has to sweep his or her finger.

This unique technique gives FingerChip™ major advantages.

TCS is a silicon manufacturer, and only sells silicon devices. In order to evaluate the sensor, TCS offers various demonstration boards (see products). TCS doesn't offer a full system, as at least the authentication software must be added to the sensor. But the FingerChip(tm) Partners propose several solutions from software to a full system.

To know about the latest papers written about the FingerChip™, shows, demos, see our public relations page.

If you need more information, we invite you to answer the questions in the contact area. This will help us to define the next generation of the FingerChip™.
