Fast Scan Multi Format Cooled CCD Camera: C4880-81

The C4880-80 series are newly developed fast scan, low-noise cooled CCD cameras. To achieve maximum speed, a 1/2-inch progressive scan interline CCD of 659 (H) X 494 (V) pixels is used, enabling almost 500 full frames/sec (32 X 32 binning/fast scan mode). The spectral characteristics of the CCD are optimized for blue and blue-green fluorochromes like fura and the higher resolution short wavelengths in other microscope techniques.

Two modes are available: a high-precision scan mode with a readout noise level as low as 5 electrons (typ.), and a fast scan mode with a readout noise level of 20 electrons (typ.).

The CCD is cooled down to 0° C, using peltier cooling alone. No water lines or fans are required and there is no mechanical shutter. The high resolution images of the progressive scan interline CCD can be observed at high magnifications on a microscope with no vibration. Exposure times from a few microseconds to 10 seconds are possible.
