Table 7: The Qualifying Remarks Listed in Columns 16 and 17 of Table 4

DP = dirty picture    Dust specks or dirt are evident on the 
                      finding chart.

PD = plate defect     This can be on the PSS plate, the 35mm
                      negative or the finding chart print.

LP = light picture    The print of the finding chart is somewhat 
                      overexposed but the grains of the PSS plate 
                      are visible.

VLP = very light picture  The print of the finding chart is very
                          overexposed.  The grains of the PSS
                          plate are barely visible.

CH = crosshairs       The finding chart has closed rather
                      than open crosshairs.

CF = crowded field   

OF = obscured field    The field within the 4.14" search radius is 
                       partially obscured.

           M = member
second     C = Compact group.  The galaxies are separated by
               only a few galaxy diameters.
           M = Medium compact group. The galaxies are separated 
               by about 5 to 10 galaxy diameters.
third      1 = one first ranked galaxy.
           2 = two approximately equal magnitude
               first ranked galaxies.
           3 = three or more approximately equal magnitude
               first ranked galaxies.
fourth     S = small group, 5 galaxies.
           M = medium group, 5 to 10 galaxies.
           L = large group,   >   10 galaxies. 
           C = cluster,      >>   10 galaxies.

The notations following the catalog number:
cc = at cluster center    
nc = not at cluster center
mc = near cluster center
ni = not identified with probable cluster member
c: = cluster not obvious on finding chart
ef = identification is EF (empty field)

v = Identification from Veron-Cetty and Veron (1983)
w = Identification from Wills and Wills (unpublished)

q = Identification is probably a QSO or BL Lac Object

z = Identification is confirmed by spectrum giving redshift
s = Identification is confirmed to be a star
e = Veron-Cetty & Veron list an empty field at the source position
x = For Veron-Cetty & Veron, I disagree with the identification
: = For Veron-Cetty & Veron, the agreement with the TS
       identification is questionable
: = For Wills and Wills, the spectroscopic data suggests
       but does not confirm the identification 
Note (H.Andernach, Febr. 1994):
It was found that only the nominal UTRAO positions were checked for optical couterparts, but not the alternate positions as indicated in the lobeshift columns. Accidentally I found some candidates at these positions, so it should be kept in mind that sources with lobeshift alternatives and classified as 'empty field' might in fact have a counterpart at the shifted position!
