ABSTRACT
The 1.4 GHz NRAO VLA Sky Survey (NVSS) was searched for phase-averaged
radio emission from the 516 pulsars north of J2000 declination d = -40deg in
the Taylor et al. catalog. We have identified 79 sources stronger than ~1
2.5 mJy as pulsars through positional coincidence. Fifteen of these pulsars
were also identified with sources in the 325 MHz Westerbork Northern Sky
Survey (WENSS). Our sample is free from period and dispersion selection
effects beyond those of the original catalog, and we have attempted to
characterize the effects of interstellar scintillation on the source flux
densities reported by NVSS. We report spectral indices using both the WENSS
325 MHz and pulsar catalog 400 MHz flux densities. The NVSS positions may be
used both to improve timing models and for VLA/VLBA phase-referencing
observations. The flux densities for those pulsars not significantly
affected by scintillation are quite accurate and may be used to calibrate
future observations.
